Some exciting news! Pillow Talk is undergoing some significant changes (more to follow soon 👀). To support this growth, we are recruiting new dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a cause that promotes ethical journalism and serves our community with accurate and impactful content, all while working towards a more sex positive society.
Who is Pillow Talk Scotland? We are a volunteer-led group tackling sexual shame and promoting positive attitudes towards sex and relationships. We exist to strengthen social connections, contribute to individual wellbeing, and enhance the overall fabric of our society. Our aim is to use independent journalism, events, and social media to promote a sex positive culture.
Role: We are looking for trustees for Pillow Talk’s board.
What does a trustee role involve? A trustee helps oversee the work of a charity and ensures good decisions are being made. You don’t need prior experience as a trustee to apply for this role; we’re keen to have a mix of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
Time commitment: Roughly four hours a month, which includes four board meetings a year and time to support and advise the Operational Team when needed. The Board is encouraged to attend our events whenever possible.
Remuneration: Trustees are not paid. Therefore, the board will serve as an accountability body instead of an operational one, and trustees are asked for a minimal time commitment. Pillow Talk believes that labour should be compensated, so work will be conducted by the operational staff (which we will fundraise for in the future). The board will ensure that the charity serves its community, manages finances effectively, and maintains accurate, evidence-based, and ethical journalism.
Access: We will meet any access needs for people to participate in conversations for these roles, and also for people once in their roles. If you require this information in a different format, or have any other questions or requests relating to accessibility or Pillow Talk, please send an email to pillowtalkscotland@gmail.com.
Applications open until 16/06/2024.
